William T. Kirtley, Esq. has practiced law in the greater Sarasota, Florida area since 1981. Mr. Kirtley holds an undergraduate degree in business and a juris doctor degree awarded by the University of Iowa. Mr. Kirtley's practice emphasis is business, commercial and securities law, both from a transactional and litigation standpoint.

Mr. Kirtley’s business and securities law transactional practice involves representation of business entities desiring to raise capital, either on a public or private offering basis, as well as matters relating to mergers, acquisitions, other forms of business combinations, shareholder relations and representation before regulatory agencies, including FINRA and the United States Securities and Exchange Commission.

Mr. Kirtley’s business and securities litigation practice has been conducted before federal and state courts (at the trial and appellate levels) and various arbitration panels, including those panels convened under the auspices of the American Arbitration Association, FINRA and the New York Stock Exchange, Inc. In such litigation practice, Mr. Kirtley's clients have included investors asserting claims against securities broker-dealers and the defense of broker-dealers.

Mr. Kirtley serves as one of the five members of the Higher Education Facilities Financing Authority which acts as a conduit issuer to facilitate tax advantage debt financings for Florida private institutions of higher learning. Mr. Kirtley is a past member of the Board of Trustees of the Ringling College of Art and Design, Sarasota, Florida and is a past Chair of such Board.
